A note from Valarie '86

Calling all members of the LCDS Class of 1986 who are willing to admit it was that long since you graduated from high school!

Virtually all of us missed the opportunity in the fall of 2006 to return for our 20th reunion, but we have been granted a second chance. We have been invited to come together with the classes of 1987 and 1988 to reacquaint with one another and to remember our salad days. The reunion will occur in early August ample time to go on whatever diets (speaking of salad) and exercise programs or undergo whatever plastic surgery may be required. A great event for alums and spouses is in the works for the evening of Friday, August 1st. Then on Saturday, the 2nd, a Family Gathering is planned (another great event), which will be held at the home of Bernadette Milner Gardner – the perfect host given her property’s proximity to the school in combination with the fact that she spanned two reunion classes as an honorary member of ’86.

I am very excited about this reunion, if for no other reason than we are assured the critical mass necessary for a real party! We all remember how important integrating the classes was to having worthwhile events during our school years. This is particularly true for a class of only 20. (Do foreign exchange students really count? Well…sorry Barry.) Since graduation, our class has mostly scattered to the winds, with very few of us living in or near Pennsylvania. I encourage those of you who will be in the area to come to Lancaster for this reunion weekend and to remember the school, reflect on all that took place there, and reunite with these people who played such an integral role in your adolescence. I am excited to find out where everyone’s lives have taken them since then, to meet the families that you have established and to embarrass you thoroughly with the tales we all can tell.

In the meantime, please go to the blog at the reunion website; send pictures to Heather Huffnagle for posting; reach out to say hello and maybe to share that one thing that has irked you or thrilled you or made you laugh over the years when remembering LCDS, the 80s, the whole experience.

I have one to start, to Jill and Victoria – I finally resolved who was sexier between Mick and Bowie: any of their wives.

Hope to see everyone in August!

A Call from John Jarvis - Tell Me What YOU Remember!

Dear Friends;

I’ve been going through the yearbooks of 1986, ’87 and ’88. One conclusion I have is that you are all remarkably attractive graduates. Page after page give me smiling faces and happy memories not only of you, but your teachers as well.

One memory is of Outward Bound - do you remember climbing rock faces in the Delaware Valley, crawling into black holes and trying to get a fire alight? You were all splendid companions.

I could go on but I do want to know what you remember. What did you say about one another at your graduation and what special artwork did you prepare for the occasion? Do come to the reunion!

Your old headmaster, although I have been called at times your Head Monster.

Is That Really Me??

Did I really look like that in high school? Who let me out of the house like that??
In any event, welcome to the LCDS 2008 Class Reunion website and blog! This has been created to serve as a dynamic hub for all the reunion info, chatter, rumors, etc. Also, to bring back a lot of the memories that I am sure will be re-lived in August! I encourage everyone to sit back, listen to some of the old tunes, peruse the old photos, and contribute to the blogs! If you have photos you would like added (good or bad), please don’t hesitate to send them over. The efforts of the reunion planning folks are sure to come to fruition in a wonderful, fun and exciting weekend! Hope to see you there!

A note from Jack '88

I would like to welcome everyone to the class of 1988’s 20th Reunion to be held the weekend of August 1st – 2nd. It is hard to believe that 20 years have passed since our senior year in high school. I am excited that we will be joined by the classes of ‘86 and ‘87 for the reunion weekend. So many of us took classes, competed on sports teams and participated in club activities with members from the classes of ’86 and ’87 that it made sense to combine our activities. The initial response to the announcement regarding the reunion has been overwhelmingly positive. I along with the reunion organizers will have periodic updates regarding the details of the reunion as well a list of classmates who have committed to attend. I look forward to seeing everyone in August.
Regards,
Jack Fulton ‘88

A Note from Bernadette '87

Welcome to our Reunion site. The Class of 1987 has been busily working away on our Triple Reunion. We have a lot of people coming and it should be a great time. The Family Gathering on Saturday will be at my house. If the weather is good we can swim and play tennis. We have a swing set and plenty of lawn for kids to play. We'll have a very kid friendly lunch.

Our house isn't very far from school and we plan to set up some tours for those who are interested. If you haven't had a chance to visit, the new building is really impressive. It reminds me of when the new library was finished when we were at school. It is spacious and full of natural light. Thanks to Kate Gschwend Miller '90, our Director of Alumni Relations, the old flags from the Library/Cafeteria are back up on the walls of the new Dining Commons. It really looks great -- and it feels like our school still.

Handfuls of us have gotten together over the years, but it will be fantastic to all come together in one place. I can't believe it's been 20 (or 21 or 22) years since we were at Lancaster Country Day School. (And I can't believe my hair in some of those old photos!)

I hope you all will be able to attend.
